Kapital Flow and Milk Chocolate Take 51 Main

If you missed the new student band Kapital Flow at the Rowdy Roast last weekend (see video above), you’ve absolutely got to check them out at 51 Main tonight! 51 Main describes Kapital Flow as:

“A funk/jazz/live hip-hop band that bridges the boundaries between sample-based hip-hop and live funk. They sample funky grooves like a hip-hop producer, but in blistering live performances. They play some originals, and some covers of tracks from legendary hip-hop producers like J Dilla. The band features a full line-up of drums, bass, guitar, sax, trombone & synth, as well as appearances from various rappers in the Middlebury community.”

We’ve heard them. Can’t decide whether we’re more obsessed with Jeff Colt ’14 and Will Burke’s ’16 epic free-style rapping or Caroline Joyner’s ’15 sultry melodies.

Before Kapital Flow, Milk Chocolate will be performing at 51 Main. Milk Chocolate is an R & B and Blues duo featuring (and creatively named after) students Innocent Tswamuno ’14 and Mohan Fitzgerald ’15. Milk Chocolate is an equally awesome, and you can check out their Suite BCG performance here.

Annnnnd if great music and company isn’t enough, it’s also Midd Night Thursday at 51 Main! All Middlebury I.D. holders will receive 1/2 price on all appetizers. Rally some friends, make it a date, or show up solo… it’s basically the weekend, right?

WHERE: 51 Main at the Bridge

Apparently this guy is a big deal…

080310_Nelson_068.jpg…my professor said in class the other day that Harvard professor Eric Nelson has a better shot than most living people at transforming Western thought forever with his wise thoughts. Apparently he is the kind of person we might be bragging about hearing speak ‘back in college’ when we are 50.

So, even if you, like us,  have no idea what the title of his talk means ( ”The Lord Alone Shall be King of America: Hebraism and the Republican Turn of 1776″) and have never taken a poli sci or religion class, it could be worth it to check out his talk on Thursday.

Date: Tomorrow, Thursday, May 2
Time: 4:30PM
Place: Dana
